Allied Press Greymouth's Kieran Densey is one of 12 apprentices in the running for Print NZ's Apprentice of the Year' title.

The winner will be announced at the Pride In Print Awards on June 25, succeeding Vanessa Hooton of Tainui Press, whose success was revealed at last year's virtual awards.

Chief executive Ruth Cobb said the top 12 were selected for having excelled in their training.

"This is also recognition of the work that their trainers and companies have put into them. We wish our Top 12 Apprentices for 2020 a huge congratulations."

Five will now be named as sector winners, from which the overall Apprentice of the Year will be chosen.

The Top 12 apprentices for 2020 are: Russell Allen of Quality Print, Taupo (digital printing); Travis Jordan of Soar Print, Auckland (digital printing); Karl Pearson of Printcraft 81, Masterton (digital printing); Alexander Cameron-Brown of Peacock Brothers, Auckland (packaging); Pranil Ramof Stratex, Auckland (packaging); Kieran Densey of Allied Press, Greymouth (offset printing); Todd Nicholls of Webstar, Masterton (offset printing); Craig Murray of Global Culture, Christchurch (screen printing); Sean Housby of Soar Print, Auckland (binding and finishing); Toby Marsh of Signbiz, Christchurch (signmaking); Georgia Pritchard of BB Signs, Blenheim (signmaking); and Rebecca Brooks of Sign Craft Kapiti, Waikanae (signmaking).
