Attention turns to Brisbane next month with both the Victorian PICAs and National Print Awards being handed out there.

Journalist and broadcaster Patrick Condren has been named as master of ceremonies for the National Print Awards – the thirty-eighth presentations – on November 5.

Walter Kuhn, president of organizer PVCA, described Condren as a consummate professional, “well known to all”. In Brisbane, he had served 17 years as 7News political reporter and eight as newsreader for 7News Brisbane, and also appeared regularly on its Sunrise morning programme and was a morning host on Fairfax radio’s 4BC. In the UK, he worked for the BBC and ITN as well as reporting for Australian media.

The Victorian PICAs are being announced earlier in the evening in Brisbane and will be livestreamed to guests attending virtually in Victoria. Other states will also join the livestream for the NPA presentations, with in-person events held in Perth and Sydney, with local PICAs also presented first there.

Kuhn said the organising team had faced a “mammoth” task navigating local lockdowns and differing restriction levels to coordinate the events across five states and four time zones.
