Product development is top of publishers’ New Year resolutions, according to new WAN-Ifra data.
The upcoming World Press Trends report – to be published next month – shows data analytics and intelligence as the top-rated technology investment plan.
In the global survey of about 170 publishing executives, product development was cited by 88 per cent of respondents as a priority investment area.
Almost three-quarters planned to invest in their newsrooms – hiring and/or training – and marketing departments.
Next was reader revenue (84 per cent) and “other revenue streams” (84 per cent).
All but two investment areas – print production (33 per cent) and building capacity (32 per cent) – rated more than 60 per cent.
