Former SPH content marketing chief Geoff Tan has been appointed events and partnerships director of Singapore’s Association of Advertising & Marketing.

AAMS was formed at the end of 2019 by the merger of the 71-year-old Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Singapore (‘the 4As’) with the much newer Institute of Advertising Singapore (IAS).

Tan says AAMS spearheads the industry's most-coveted awards including the Singapore Creative Circle Awards – known as the “Gong Show – the Students Creative Awards – affectionately referred to as The Crowbar – the Singapore Media Awards and the Effie Awards.

“I am honoured to be championing these prestigious events and welcome ideas from the ground and collaborative partnerships with aligned brand owners and agencies,” he says in a social media post.

He was previously chief marketing officer of Blockchain fintech company OIO Singapore, and prior to that chief ideas officer at B2B property management platform Really Singapore.

At Straits Times publisher Singapore Press Holdings – for which he worked for 34 years – he was most recently head of its creative and content marketing arm agency Sweet, and managing director of SPH Magazines’ luxury business. His responsibilities included portfolio of custom publications, including SilverKris, the travel magazine of Singapore Airlines.
