WAN-Ifra’s long-awaited Digital Media India news business event has a date and a venue.

Finally back in physical format, it will be held on March 16-17 from 10am-5.30pm both days, at the Holiday Inn New Delhi International Airport.

The conference – currently in its twelfth year – has evolved with the rapid transformation of digital news in the Indian subcontinent. It brings together news media leaders from South Asia to discuss the latest opportunities and challenges in the digital media business.

A parallel ‘technology track’ introduced this year will provide insights on leveraging technology to accelerate digital growth.

Topic highlights include ‘audience first’ approach to news publishing, driving reader engagement and retention in the post pandemic “attention recession”, digital subscription – the holy grail of revenue – the “success study”, content management systems and their role in content discovery.

There will also be tips on how to start with AI in newsrooms, Web3, the decentralised web and its potential for news media business… and some “crystal gazing” – where to bet the future for sustainable news media business.

The programme also includes presentation of the 2022 South Asian Digital Media Awards, recognising publishers that have delivered unique and original digital media projects. Presentations will take place during the conference session on March 16.

More than 100 entries competed in 13 different categories, and the coveted ‘Champion Publisher of the Year 2022’ award will also be presented.
