A visit to the printing plant of Malay daily Sinar Harian is among highlights for this year's ANP delegates conference in Kuala Lumpur.

Publisher Grup Percetakan Ultimate Print (Karangkraf Media Group) is local co-host of the conference being held from September 19-21 under the theme of 'Embracing Change'.

Hotel venue is Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur in KL Sentral, and registration is now open. See the ANP website at https://aseanprinters.org/ or email the secretary general at secretary.gen@aseanprinters.org for details.

Full programme for the popular regional technical conference is still being finalised but one popular component - the pre-conference golf challenge day - is already fixed. It will be held at TPC Kuala Lumpur (formerly Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club), eight kilometres out of town at Mont Kiara.

Established in 2010 as the successor to SEANG, ANP's recent activities have been supported by 25 publisher corporate members from the seven ASEAN nations - Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

This year's theme, Embracing Change, relates both to the major change in Malaysia's political landscape, and also to the need for the newspaper industry to adapt to changes, recalibrating their businesses to survive and to stay relevant.

Co-host Grup Percetakan Ultimate (GPU) is a "one stop" printing house which has grown from a single plant in Jalan Tandang, Petaling Jaya, with the addition of three regional printing plants. It prints the Karangkraf group's magazines and books, as well as compact daily Sinar Harian, and is ISO 9001:2000 accredited.

Founded in March 2006, Sinar Harian made headlines itself last February when it published a "gay checklist" telling readers how to spot homosexuals.
