A new competence centre for automation and retrofitting at Wifag/Polytype’s location in Hamburg will be led by Ömer Sengün.

The Swiss group says a number of other employees have been recruited under Sengün and will work with the automation centre at the Swiss group’s headquarters in Fribourg, which is headed by Rolf Mani.

Sengün (54) says the aim is to give German newspaper printers in particular, access to a range of solutions: “This should provide an attractive alternative to existing system suppliers,” he says.

The Swiss Group has focussed research and development in Fribourg on automation and workflow, software solutions and digital printing.

As a result, the new centre in Hamburg will be able to offer advice and take overall responsibility for complex projects. Wifag has built its own control systems since 2012 and works with Gamag on press retrofits and reconfiguration.
