Prepping video for AMP rollout

Brightcove has created a video player component to support 'super fast' mobile web user experiences such as Google's Accelerated Mobile Pages.

This week, Google's search results on the mobile web started calling out AMP-compliant landing pages from publishers who had taken steps to update their site to accommodate the AMP specifications.

AMP optimises the way page elements load, and Brightcove's component is a different player embed code for use in AMP HTML pages.

Google engineering vice president David Besbris says a key goal of the AMP Project is to make the mobile web super fast while keeping "the amazing diversity of tools that the open web has to offer".

The Brightcove component allows customers to maintain control, performance, advertising and analytics integrations. "Our current understanding is that AMP is rolling out worldwide this week with the exception of Australia where it is expected to debut in late March," says a spokesman.
