APN shines in state apprentice awards

Three APN Print apprentices were placed in this year's LIA-Heidelberg Queensland graduate and top apprentice awards with Jayd Kiely taking the top prize.

Presentations were made at 66 on Ernest Restaurant on Brisbane's South Bank on Wednesday.

The night showcased the state industry's best talent with awards also presented to Stage 1, 2 and 3 apprentices, and former international cricketer Gary Cosier a popular speaker with tales of Australian cricket sides of the 1970 and 1980s.

Kirsty Boyce, who works at APN Print in Warwick was runner up for the Stage 1 Award, won by Ryan Robinson of QLM Labelmakers.

Another Warwick apprentice, David Ey was nominated in the Stage 2 Award, which was won by Ryan Gaudion of Print Works.

Eight candidates were nominated for the LIA-Heidelberg Graduate of the Year award, with APN Print Yandina apprentice Jayd Kiely named as winner. A previous Stage 3 winner, she spoke of the hard work to achieve her goals and encouraged all other Queensland graduates to work towards achieving theirs.
