Pagemasters – part of the publisher-owned Mediality group has launched a new CMS for smaller publishers in Australia and New Zealand.

Owned by the country’s largest media companies – News Corp, Nine Entertainment, West Australian Newspapers and Australian Community Media – the company is pitching for the business of independent newspapers, many of them created when News and ACM pulled back from regional areas.

The group is offering its Publish product as “a super, simple solution” from A$499 a month and a “modest setup fee”.

Pagemasters says it has delivered more than 70 news, magazine, university and not-for-profit websites for publishers, and “saw the need for an affordable content management system allowing a quick and easy leap to digital”.

Included are a suite of built-in paywall options, sponsored content and advertising modules, directory listings, real estate and integrations.

Customers include Monash University, North East Media – which has eight sites in Victoria – Elliott News Group, Forty South and Newsroom.co.nz.

Mediality Group – effectively what remained after the divestment of Australian Associated Press – is run by chief executive Bruce Davidson – formerly chief executive of AAP – with Antony Phillips as managing director. Other divisions are Medianet, Mediaverse and Mediality Racing.
