German press maker manroland Goss has bought used packaging machinery specialist Galred, adding it to its GWS Printing Systems business.

Galred Europe has established a reputation for flexo, gravure, pouch making and extruding equipment.

manroland Goss says the strategic move marks “a significant milestone” in GWS's mission to expand its presence and offerings in the used equipment sector – now including packaging – by combining expert know-how and networks.

The deal combines Galred’s reputation and expertise with GWS's global reach and extensive network, “creating a powerhouse in the used graphic equipment market, poised to deliver unparalleled value and service to customers worldwide,” GWS commercial director Daniel Constandse said.

“This acquisition reinforces GWS's commitment to being a comprehensive solution provider in the used equipment industry, offering a one-stop-shop experience for clients seeking reliable, cost-effective packaging solutions.”

manroland Goss chief executive Franz Kriechbaum says the acquisition will allow the group to further expand its footprint in the hands-on used equipment market.

“And it demonstrates another strategic milestone in the group’s favourable development.”

Netherlands-based Galred has more than 30 years experience in the flexible packaging industry worldwide, with database of more than 15,000 contacts globally and a website attracting thousands of visitors a month.
