Good news is always welcome, and amid a sea of gloomy red, readership figures for Florida’s Villages Daily Sun make a refreshing change.
Owned by a property company, the paper delivers timely and relevant news focussed on keeping residents and other readers informed and engaged with community events and local developments, as well as regional and national updates
On the production front, an update in production workflow has seen the adoption of a cloud-based version of ProImage’s NewsWayX solution, increasing flexibility, efficiency, and accuracy in their printing processes. Villages Media Group imaging department manager Victor Anderson says the decision was a strategic move to overcome specific production issues: “NewsWayX helps us complete a couple of long-standing issues we had with other software, including bin sorting and web growth adjustments,” he said.
The move has allowed The Villages to explore other possibilities in workflow management, the cloud workflow so far more than meeting expectations. “We particularly appreciate the ability to make adjustments on the fly, which has been crucial for minimising trolley and bustle wheel use on the press,” he said. Additionally, the software’s bin sorting capability, combined with placement icons, simplifies plate layout, further streamlining the printing process.
The system integrates seamlessly with existing systems, providing pre-flighting, ink setting, and fanout. This integration ensures that production flows smoothly without any disruptions or delays
