Italian digital printing pioneer CSQ will be QI Press Controls' first closed loop newspaper colour customer in the country.
Erbusco-based Centro Stampa Quotidiani is to install the company’s IDS system on its eight-tower Wifag OF373/6 press, including dampening control. The company was formed in 2000 through the merger of two sites.
About 15 titles a day are printed on plant which includes a ten-tower OF370/GTD and a recently-installed HP inkjet web press, used to localise editions and for contract work.
General manager Dario de Cian (pictured) says the company always follows new market developments very closely. “We were familiar with QI Press Controls because we had their first generation (IRS) colour register system on the Wifag OF370GTD press we installed in 2005, and followed developments with their IDS closed loop colour as well,” he says.
CSQ will be the first newspaper printer in Italy to use closed loop colour control, enabling the press to reproduce colours extremely accurately and consistently throughout the run. This will generate savings in labour and waste. “Given the good experiences with Q.I. Press Controls being our supplier during the past years, their continuous drive to deliver innovative, reliable solutions that comply to customer needs and their good customer service made us decide to invest in their IDS closed loop colour.”
He says he was impressed by customer visits and results achieved in several cases, as well as by the inclusion of dampening control.
